The Supreme Court has stopped the government from carrying out its plan to recall 11 Nepali ambassadors from different countries. The interim order was issued by Justices Sharanga Subedi and Shreekanta Paudel in response to a writ filed by Laxmi Prasad Regmi.

The court said the government’s October 16 decision lacked clear reasons and legal grounds, as it only recalled 11 out of 17 ambassadors appointed at the same time. It also noted that the interim government’s main duty is to hold elections, not make new ambassadorial appointments.

Stating that such a move could affect Nepal’s foreign relations, the court ordered the government to keep the current situation unchanged until a final verdict is reached.
