Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has shared with the Parliament about his recent visit to Spain, where he took part in a big United Nations conference focused on how to manage and support development through better financial partnerships.
Speaking at the House of Representatives, PM Oli said the conference in Seville helped bring countries together to work on global development goals and improve economic cooperation. He had informed Parliament about the trip before leaving on June 28 and returned to Nepal on July 4.
During the conference, PM Oli spoke on behalf of the world’s least developed countries. He talked about the challenges these countries face and called for more fair support to help them grow socially and economically. He also mentioned Nepal’s goal to become a developing country by 2026 and said this event helped get more international support for that goal.
PM Oli said his visit helped strengthen Nepal’s relationship with the United Nations and other countries. He called for more support in areas like development funding and climate change. He said Nepal showed itself as a responsible and capable country and expressed hope that more foreign investment would come in the future.
At the event, he led several meetings, spoke in roundtable discussions, and highlighted Nepal’s leadership among 44 least developed countries. He also met with Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
PM Oli also spoke to civil society groups and encouraged them to keep playing an active role. He said Nepal supports freedom and democracy for civil groups to work freely and strongly.
