The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) continued their protest on Monday, asking the government to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the visit visa scandal.
The protest started on May 26 and has grown stronger after Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was linked to the case.
The protest is about allegations that visit visas—mainly to Gulf and Southeast Asian countries—were given out in an unfair way, possibly with political backing.
On Monday, RPP members boycotted the parliament meeting, saying the government is not taking their demand seriously. RSP lawmakers gathered around the Speaker’s seat during the session but did not shout any slogans, choosing a peaceful way to show their protest.
Even though there were no loud protests inside the House, both parties said they are still firm in their demand for a fair investigation. They believe the issue is about responsibility and misuse of power.
The opposition parties say they will continue their protest until the government forms a high-level committee to look into the matter.
