23,000 at Risk of Monsoon Disasters in Kavrepalanchok

A total of 395 settlements in 13 local levels of Kavrepalanchok have been identified as highly vulnerable to monsoon-related disasters this year.

 

According to the District Disaster Management Committee, around 6,375 households and 23,045 people are at risk of floods and landslides. The most affected areas include Roshi Rural Municipality with 56 settlements and Namobuddha Municipality with 41.

 

Urban areas like Banepa, Panauti, and Dhulikhel are also at risk, alongside rural zones such as Temal, Mahabharat, and Bhumlu.

 

Last year’s floods and landslides claimed 78 lives in the district, the highest nationwide. In response, authorities have prepared 135 helipads and designated schools and open spaces for emergency use.

 

Residents are urged to remain alert and follow safety guidelines during the monsoon season.
