Former King Gyanendra Shah celebrated his 79th birthday today at his residence, Nirmal Niwas, in Kathmandu.
To mark the occasion, the residence was opened to the public from 11 AM to 2 PM. Many people, including children, youths, and the elderly, stood in a long line to meet him, offer birthday wishes, and receive blessings.
Supporters, royal well-wishers, and members of monarchist parties gathered at the event. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi also visited early to greet the former king personally.
The former king’s Communications Secretariat said the house was specially opened for the public, supporters, and party members on this special day.
Like during Dashain, the event became a symbolic celebration for those who still support the monarchy. By midday, hundreds had already visited Nirmal Niwas to show their respect and express their continued loyalty.
