NEPSE Falls After Six-Day Rally, Most Sectors in Red

Nepal’s stock market declined by 22.35 points on Monday, closing at 2,684. Trading volume dropped to Rs 8.37 billion, with most sectors, including finance, hydropower, and banking ending in the red. Only the hotel and tourism sector posted gains.

After six consecutive days of gains, Nepal’s stock market declined on Monday. The NEPSE index fell by 22.35 points, closing at 2,684, while the daily turnover shrank from Rs 9.5 billion to Rs 8.37 billion.

 

Only 39 companies saw gains, whereas 209 declined. Most sector indices dropped, with finance falling the most at 3.76 percent. Other notable declines were seen in manufacturing, hydropower, banking, and insurance. The hotel and tourism sector was the only one to rise, gaining 0.61 percent.

 

Top gainers included Upper Mailung Khola Hydropower (+6.56%) and Corporate Development Bank (+6.28%). Top losers were Rapti Hydro & General Construction (-10%) and Green Development Bank (-9.49%).

 

Heavily traded stocks of the day included Nepal Reinsurance, Guardian Micro Life Insurance, and Sahas Urja.
