South Korea's police attempt to arrest suspended President Yoon Suk-yeol following his impeachment was thwarted after six hours of resistance.
Soldiers guarding Yoon formed a human barrier, and military vehicles blocked the police's efforts. The Constitutional Court will hear Yoon's impeachment case on January 14, where it will decide whether to uphold the impeachment or reinstate him. Yoon is required to attend the hearing, with a second session set for January 16 if he refuses.
An arrest warrant was issued for Yoon regarding martial law declaration, valid until January 6, after which investigators can only hold him for 48 hours.
