Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) vice-chair Dr. Swarnim Wagle has highlighted that the party’s 48 percent popular vote carries historic legitimacy and must be responsibly upheld.
Speaking at the RSP orientation program for newly elected lawmakers on Tuesday, Dr. Wagle said, “Our current position is nearly two-thirds. Based on the popular vote, we secured 5.1 million votes 48 percent which carries immense legitimacy. We must honor this trust responsibly.”
He added that lawmakers’ main role is legislation, but they must also listen to constituents’ grievances and monitor the government.
RSP central vice-chair Dol Prasad Aryal noted that in the previous House, limited party numbers hindered full delivery. “Our youth protested for good governance and to fight corruption. Had we had sufficient numbers, those children could have stayed in school,” he said.
