The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal have formally agreed to merge, ending a three-year split. The unification was confirmed following talks between RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden and RPP Nepal Chair Kamal Thapa.
Thapa had split from RPP in February 2022 after losing the party’s general convention to Lingden, citing alleged interference by former King Gyanendra and the Narayanhiti Palace. He subsequently formed RPP Nepal later that month.
The merger now reunites the two royalist factions, consolidating their political influence.
