The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) posted a marginal gain on Wednesday, rising 1.37 points to close at 2,585.87. However, market activity weakened as total turnover dropped to Rs 3.22 billion from Rs 3.42 billion in the previous session.

 

Of the traded companies, share prices of 111 advanced, while 142 declined and seven remained unchanged, reflecting mixed investor sentiment. Sectoral indices moved within a narrow range of less than one percent. Banking, hotels and tourism, manufacturing and processing, non-life insurance, and trading sectors ended the day in positive territory.

 

Meanwhile, development banks, finance, hydropower, investment, life insurance, microfinance, and the ‘others’ group closed lower, pulling down overall market momentum despite the slight rise in the benchmark index.
