With the March 5 House of Representatives election approaching, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that ensuring a peaceful, free and fair poll is the government’s top priority.
Addressing the Karnali Province–level Security Seminar in Birendranagar, Surkhet, Aryal said election preparations are moving ahead in line with the constitutional requirement to hold polls within six months of Parliament’s dissolution. He stressed that security mechanisms are being strengthened to avoid any potential crisis and help restore normalcy in the country.
The Home Minister also said the names of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement have been published in the national gazette and that relief support to their families is a key focus. He emphasized the need to bring Gen-Z groups into the political mainstream, describing them as an independent force whose energy and creativity should be used for national development and good governance.
Karnali Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel, meanwhile, said peace, security and good governance remain the province’s top priorities, urging district officials to act as guardians of governance while calling for stronger federal attention to Karnali’s growing challenges.
