Chunga Sherpa, the celebrated wildlife photographer, has passed away at the age of 64. He died at 12:15 AM today during treatment at Grandi Hospital.

Sherpa, originally from Lukla, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1 in Solukhumbu, had been undergoing treatment for liver-related issues for the past week. He was on a ventilator during his treatment, and his death was confirmed by the Ward Chairman of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1, Funuru Sherpa.

Sherpa is survived by two sons and three daughters. He had been an active member of the Nepali Congress for a long time and was involved in politics. He also served as the president of the Nepali Congress in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality. In addition to his political career, Sherpa was engaged in the tourism industry and had served as the former chairman of the Chaurikharka Village Development Committee.

For several years, Sherpa was also actively involved in wildlife photography, working with various national and international organizations related to the field.
