The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has called an emergency meeting.
Following the arrest of party chairperson KP Sharma Oli, Secretary Mahesh Basnet convened a secretariat meeting at 8:30 a.m.
He stated that the meeting would announce the party’s protest programs and discuss current issues.
Basnet wrote on social media: “Such activities reflect political revenge and bias.”
He also expressed sorrow, saying that it is disheartening to see thousands of police deployed to arrest leaders who fought for democracy, while the same police cannot protect government property or even their own posts.
