Ram Chandra Paudel has called on all citizens to help end all forms of violence, discrimination and oppression against women.

On the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day, President Paudel extended his best wishes and said that empowering women—who make up more than half of the population—will help families, society and the country move toward prosperity.

He emphasized that women must have equal access in all sectors of the state, including education, health, employment, policymaking, decision-making and politics. According to him, this is necessary to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment.

In his message, the President also expressed hope that the day will inspire everyone to work with greater commitment and sensitivity to ensure women’s rights, equality, dignity and empowerment.

International Women’s Day is observed every year on March 8. This year, the day is being celebrated with the United Nations theme: “Rights, Justice and Action: For All Women and Girls.”
