Nepal is currently experiencing the combined effect of westerly winds and a low-pressure system formed over the Arabian Sea, leading to cloudy skies, rainfall, and snowfall in various parts of the country. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, moderate rain and snow have been reported in the hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, while light rain is expected in other regions.
The department said that cloudy conditions will continue throughout the day, especially in the hilly areas, while the Tarai region will see partial clouds. Light rainfall and snowfall are likely in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces during both day and night.
Authorities have also warned of a possible rise in water levels in major rivers like Bagmati, Kamala, Koshi, and Kankai, along with a risk of sudden floods in small rivers and streams flowing through the hilly and Chure regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhes provinces. Residents living near rivers and those traveling in mountainous areas have been urged to remain cautious.
The department further stated that the ongoing rain and snowfall could affect daily life, transportation, agriculture, and tourism activities, urging the public to stay alert and adopt necessary safety measures.
