Emphasizing economic and environmental benefits, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising has urged greater use of local materials in construction.

 

Speaking at the launch of ‘Bamboo Structures Design Guidelines 2082’ by Habitat for Humanity Nepal under the slogan ‘Bamboo Housing for the Future’, Ghising highlighted that using domestic products can create jobs, reduce foreign currency outflow, and support durable, earthquake-resistant structures.

 

Ghising, who also oversees Urban Development, stressed the importance of bamboo and timber in climate-friendly construction. Urban Development Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel and Department Director General Rabindra Bohara reaffirmed their commitment to promoting local materials and implementing standards for sustainable and resilient buildings.
