During his visit to Mustang, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said Nepal is suffering from the effects of climate change despite having done nothing to cause it. Speaking at a party event, he recalled his efforts as PM to secure international compensation for climate-related losses and revealed that a Rs. 500 million support fund was in process, but stalled after his government was removed.

Prachanda expressed frustration that recent government policies have failed to prioritize climate change and pledged to continue raising the issue. He also spoke about reopening border points with China, including Korala in Upper Mustang, and shared that China had shown interest in building infrastructure there. He emphasized that functioning border points would help locals and boost the economy.

During the trip, Prachanda will meet party cadres, visit local institutions like Dhaulagiri Technical School, provide training, and lay the foundation stone for a new party office. He is accompanied by senior party leaders including Dev Gurung and Shakti Basnet.
