: Nepal Police have launched an investigation after authorities discovered 26 fake social media accounts operating under the name of Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The accounts, including on Facebook and Instagram, were spreading misleading information, prompting the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to issue a statement clarifying that these accounts are not genuine.

The Central Cyber Bureau, led by SP and spokesperson Deepak Raj Awasthi, confirmed that the probe is underway. Several individuals have been called in for questioning, although no arrests have been made so far. Authorities are also coordinating with social media platforms to shut down the fraudulent accounts, some of which have already been closed while others are in the process of being removed.

The police have warned that creating and operating fake accounts under the name of a public official is a punishable offense, signalling a stricter stance against online misinformation.
