Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized the need to confront the country’s existing crises with determination. She made the remarks on Sunday while speaking at the first convocation ceremony of Nepal Open University in Kathmandu.

Prime Minister Karki stated that it is time to move forward boldly to end the prevailing irregularities in the country. She also urged the educated youth to actively participate in nation-building. According to her, the knowledge and skills gained from the university should be fully utilized within the country, with those who have acquired higher education focusing on contributing to the nation.

She further highlighted that students who have pursued higher studies abroad should advance as citizens the nation can be proud of. She also encouraged higher education providers to operate more dynamically and proactively.

Prime Minister Karki said, “Our higher education institutions need to be more dynamic. This Open University should integrate global knowledge and local insights to carry out teaching and learning activities effectively. I am confident that the knowledge and skills you have gained from the university will be fully utilized for both personal growth and nation-building. I have a special request for all of you – this country is ours. We must build it ourselves. We must make it a livable nation. If we don’t, who else will? We cannot run away from the challenges here. We must face them ourselves. We must clean the place where we live. Therefore, do as much as you can within Nepal. Identify opportunities within the country. Create new opportunities where none exist. And wherever you go, be citizens that Nepal can be proud of.”

Prime Minister Karki also stressed that the Open University should embrace the pace of the times and move forward dynamically.
