Rajendra Lingden, president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of creating an environment of confrontation during the upcoming program of his party slated for May 29 by telling cadres of his party, CPN-UML, to keep Kathmandu under their control on that day.

Lingden said this during an interaction with editors in Kathmandu on Tuesday, accusing the PM of trying to curtail civil liberties enshrined in the Constitution.
“While we are planning to organize our program at Ratnapark, the PM’s party is calling its cadres to turn up nearby,” Lingden said. This is akin to inviting a confrontation, he said, calling on journalists to report this matter in an impartial manner.

This kind of remark is unbecoming of a PM, Lingden said: The PM should either correct his remark or quit.

Prime Minister Oli’s remark that Kathmandu should be “under the control of UML cadres” on the day of the start of royalist forces’ fresh movement for the restoration of monarchy has courted widespread criticism.
