Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is holding a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to explain his side of the ongoing ‘visit visa’ scandal.
He had planned to speak in the Parliament on Tuesday and Wednesday to answer growing questions about alleged corruption at the airport immigration office. However, opposition parties kept disrupting the session, barring him from speaking. Because of this, he has decided to address the issue through a press conference instead.
A member of his team said Lekhak wanted to speak directly in the parliament, but constant interruptions left him with no choice. The press conference will take place at Lhotse Hall, inside the Parliament building. He is expected to give a detailed explanation about the visit visa issue there.
“Since the parliament isn’t allowing him to respond formally, we’re arranging the press meet at Lhotse Hall,” said an official from his office. The exact time of the press conference hasn’t been set yet and will be announced later.
