Amid reports that the visit visa scandal goes a long way beyond the Tribhuvan International Airport’s Immigration Office and increasing calls from opposition parties for his resignation to facilitate a free and fair probe, Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, has reiterated that he has no role whatsoever in the swirling scandal.

Media reports, citing evidence obtained from Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, joint secretary and chief of the immigration office after his arrest in the wake of the scandal, have been pointing out that the food chain extends well beyond the immigration office.

At the same time, social media is abuzz with remarks against Minister Lekhak.
On his part, Minister Lekhak called a press conference on Wednesday where he, once again, denied his involvement in the scandal, describing remarks against him appearing on social media as politically motivated and part of a premeditated attack against him.

It should be noted that opposition parties have been obstructing parliamentary proceedings demanding the resignation of Minister Lekhak to make way for a fair probe into the scandal.
