The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced that monsoon winds are currently active across Nepal, with the low-pressure line near its normal position in the western region and slightly to the north in the east.

This afternoon, most parts of the country are expected to remain generally cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in many areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Some areas in other provinces may also receive rainfall.

Heavy rain is expected in certain parts of Koshi Province, with chances of similar conditions at one or two places in Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Light to moderate rain and snowfall may occur in the high hills and mountainous regions. Windy conditions are also forecast in the Terai areas of Koshi and parts of Madhes Province.

The weather tonight is expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few other locations. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two places in Koshi, Madhes, and Sudurpaschim. High hilly and mountainous areas could see some rain and snowfall. Strong winds may continue in parts of Madhes.

The Department has issued a warning about possible floods, landslides, and mudslides due to the ongoing rainfall. It has urged people—especially those in urban and Terai regions—to stay alert for potential flooding and waterlogging.

Rising river levels could impact daily life, agriculture, health services, tourism, road traffic, and air travel in some areas. Authorities and the general public have been advised to take precautions and remain prepared for any emergencies.
