The iconic Dharahara in central Kathmandu will now be open to the public from 8 AM to 8 PM every day, starting July 16.

The Ministry of Urban Development said the new opening hours were introduced because many people requested more time to visit.

Right now, Dharahara is open from 10 AM to 4 PM and remains closed on public holidays. But from July 16, it will also be open on holidays. Its weekly day off will change from Saturday to Wednesday, said ministry spokesperson Narayan Mainali.

Mainali explained that Dharahara will now operate in two shifts each day to welcome more visitors. Many people had said the previous hours were too short, especially on weekends and holidays.

This change was made after Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh directed the ministry to make Dharahara more accessible to the public.
