Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Raj Kumar Gupta has resigned following serious bribery allegations.
A few days ago, an audio recording surfaced in which Minister Gupta was allegedly heard discussing money in exchange for official appointments. The recording sparked widespread criticism and calls for his resignation from opposition parties, who also demanded legal action.
According to the leaked audio, the conversation took place around last December/January (Poush/Magh), and it suggests that Gupta had already accepted some money to “get the job done.”
The discussion mainly focused on the appointment of the chairperson of the Land Commission in Kaski, but also mentioned land-related matters in Pokhara. Additionally, Gupta has been accused of calling officials at key Land Revenue Offices and asking for “support.” If they didn’t comply, he allegedly threatened them with transfers to less desirable ministries.
Due to increasing political pressure and public backlash, Gupta stepped down from his ministerial position.
