Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leaving for China on August 30 for a five-day official visit at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. He will be joined by his wife, Radhika Shakya.

Oli will first travel to Tianjin to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, where he is scheduled to meet President Xi and address the SCO Plus gathering on September 1. He is also expected to meet several other world leaders during the summit.

On September 2, Oli will be in Beijing to hold talks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. The next day, he will join world leaders at a major military parade marking the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japan in World War II. The event will showcase China’s latest military technology, including tanks, aircraft, and anti-drone systems.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are among the international leaders expected at the parade.

The anniversary serves as a reminder of China’s wartime struggle in the 1930s and 40s, a period that claimed millions of civilian lives.
