Cholera Outbreak Worsens in Madhesh Province, 115 New Cases Reported

The cholera outbreak in Madhesh Province is intensifying, with 115 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) said.

The total number of confirmed cases has risen to 540. Of these, 257 patients have recovered, while 283 are still receiving treatment in hospitals across the province, according to the Ministry of Health.

Birgunj Metropolitan City remains the hardest-hit area. Narayani Hospital is treating 158 active patients, including 62 new admissions in the past day. Terai Hospital has 42 active cases, with 10 new infections, while Birgunj Health Care Hospital is treating 24 active patients, including 8 new admissions.

Kalaiya Hospital in Bara reported one new case linked to travel from Birgunj, and Pokhariya Municipality Hospital in Parsa recorded 8 new cases.
