The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has concluded that corruption indeed took place during the construction of the Pokhara Regional International Airport, and decided to direct the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority to probe the scam.

After Wednesday’s discussion that lasted about 4.5 hours, PAC Chair Rishikesh Pokharel said they have decided to send the report of the Rajendra Lingden-led probe subcommittee and supplementary opinion of subcommittee members Gokul Banskota and Tara Lama, and send them to the CIAA for legal proceedings.

Pokharel said: These reports have put forth 15 fundamental issues. We have taken them as our decision points and decided to send them to the CIAA.

It should be noted that lawmakers associated with PAC had engaged in repeated discussions vis-a-vis the leadership of the committee and its working procedure.
