The Nepali Congress has launched a campaign to update its active membership.

On the first day of the New Year, party president Gagan Kumar Thapa inaugurated the month-long “Jara Campaign” by renewing his membership in Ward No. 30 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The campaign aims to update active membership and reorganize the party.

According to Thapa, the campaign, focused on making the organization more systematic, strong, and updated will continue until the end of Baisakh. Party members across the country have been urged to renew and update their membership on time. A mandatory provision requires members to visit their respective wards in person for the update.

Thapa said, “This Jara Campaign is a new campaign of our enthusiasm and confidence. Under this, we will cooperate with all parties in Parliament within constitutional limits to strengthen nationalism. Especially, we will work with the government. To strengthen the roots of democracy, we will play a strong and responsible role as the main opposition.”

He clarified that the campaign is aimed at strengthening the party’s foundation and that work must continue throughout the year. “We have already begun the process of the general convention. From today, a new membership campaign has started. I feel there has been some confusion among party members, but now there is no need for any confusion,” he added.

The party has described the campaign as an important step toward strengthening organization and discipline.

Meanwhile, Thapa warned the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction not to engage in activities beyond party limits. “There is a limit to such unauthorized activities outside the party office. Crossing that limit will not be tolerated,” he said, urging that his effort to maintain unity should not be taken as weakness.
