A recently recovered video by Israeli intelligence has confirmed that Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student abducted by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attacks, is still alive, according to Israeli media reports.

The Hostage Families Forum of Israel stated that the footage, obtained by intelligence units, shows Joshi alive in captivity. The video will be released publicly on Wednesday evening, the organization said.

Joshi’s family welcomed the development, calling it a sign of renewed hope. “This proof of life from Gaza has strengthened our unshakable belief that he is still alive,” the family said in a statement.

Joshi had travelled to Israel just three weeks before the Hamas assault as part of an agricultural training program. He was kidnapped from Kibbutz Alumim, where several Nepali students were staying.

A Wall Street Journal report from November 2023 recounted that Joshi saved multiple lives during the attack, reportedly catching a grenade thrown into a shelter before being captured by militants.
