Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to recover the bodies of hostages still held in Gaza, pledging to fight terrorism “with full force.” His remarks came at a memorial for victims of the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack that killed about 1,200 people, BBC reported.
The statement followed Hamas’ return of two more bodies, identified as Inbar Hayman and Sgt Maj Muhammad al-Atarash, bringing the total to nine out of 28. Hamas said it could not retrieve the remaining bodies due to widespread destruction in Gaza.
Israel has threatened to restrict aid over the delay, while the Hostages and Missing Families Forum urged the government to freeze the ceasefire deal until all bodies are returned.
U.S. officials have downplayed claims that Hamas violated the truce, citing logistical challenges. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump warned fighting could resume if Hamas “continues to kill people.”
Gaza’s health ministry says over 67,900 people have been killed since Israel’s offensive began, figures recognized by the UN as credible.
