NEPSE Edges Up by 5 Points After Late Recovery

The stock market rebounded in the final trading hours to close slightly higher, despite a drop in overall turnover and mixed performance across sectors.

The NEPSE index closed slightly higher on the second trading day of the week. After remaining mostly negative throughout the day, the market recovered in the final hours, gaining 5.01 points to reach 2936.56.

 

On the day, the sensitive index declined by 0.28 points, while the float index rose by 0.27 points and the sensitive float index increased by 0.03 points. After strong gains over the previous two days, the market showed an intraday correction on Monday.

 

However, the total turnover decreased. While transactions worth Rs 23.59 billion were recorded on Sunday, it dropped to Rs 15.78 billion on Monday. Shares of 342 companies were traded in over 156,000 transactions, with more than 38 million shares exchanged.

 

Salapa Development Bank, Reliance Spinning Mills, Solu Hydropower, and Bhujung Hydropower hit the positive circuit limit. Manakamana Engineering Hydropower and Hotel Forest Inn gained nearly 10 percent, while First Microfinance rose by around 9 percent.

 

In terms of turnover, Kumari Bank led the market, followed by Shivam Cements and National Hydropower Company among the top traded stocks.

 

Out of 13 subgroups, 7 recorded gains while 6 declined. The manufacturing and processing subgroup saw the highest rise at 1.53 percent, with hydropower and mutual funds also increasing by around 1 percent.
