Amid growing dissatisfaction over the performance of the ruling coalition from within and criticism from opposition parties, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of the party's Central Working Committee.

The meeting will be held on Baisakh 17 (April 30) at the party's central office in Sanepa, a notice from the party's General Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel stated, calling all office-bearers, members and invited members of the Central Working Committee to attend.

Leaders like Shekhar Koirala and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa have been openly criticizing the KP Oli-led government, saying it is slow and not working effectively.

Amid this criticism, Deuba met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday. Reports suggest Deuba is trying to become prime minister again through the same coalition within the next year.

At the same time, the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Center), has also said the current government has failed and is in favor of forming a new government under the Nepali Congress.

The upcoming meeting is expected to review the performance of the current government and discuss the future of the Congress-UML alliance, at a time when Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has indicated that a change of guard is possible sooner than later.
