The Ministry of Health and Population has requested parents to ensure that children under the age of five receive all their regular vaccines. While launching the campaign “Baisakh: Immunization Month,” the ministry reminded parents that children should receive nine types of vaccines, and any missed doses should be completed before the child turns five.
Meanwhile, the government is administering Vitamin A and deworming medicine to children across the country this Saturday and Sunday. As part of the National Vitamin A Program, children aged six months to five years will receive Vitamin A, and those aged 1-5 years will get deworming medicine.
The campaign aims to reach nearly 2.7 million children with Vitamin A and about 2.3 million children with deworming tablets. Additionally, children older than six months will receive a nutritious food supplement called “Bal Vita.”
Parents can take their children to the nearest health post or vaccine center to get these services.
This Vitamin A program runs nationwide twice a year—on Kartik 2 and 3 (October) and Baisakh 6 and 7 (April).
