Nepal took part in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit 2025 held in Istanbul from April 21-23 under the theme “Timeless Wisdom for a Sustainable Future”.
Nepal Tourism Board represented the country at the event that brought together global tourism leaders to discuss the future of responsible and sustainable travel.
During the Government/Ministerial Session on “Building a Sustainable Future”, NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi highlighted Nepal’s ecotourism models, community-based practices and key sustainability initiatives. Joshi also promoted the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambad—a global dialogue on climate change and sustainability—scheduled for May 16-18 in Kathmandu.
In a special appeal to the global tourism community, CEO Joshi invited international buyers and travel professionals to participate in the Himalayan Travel Mart 2025, which NTB is organizing in partnership with PATA Nepal Chapter from June 3 to 5 in Kathmandu. The event aims to showcase Nepal’s diverse tourism offerings and foster global tourism partnerships.
On the sidelines of the summit, NTB and PATA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of a Tourism White Paper, creation of joint forums and institutional capacity-building initiatives.
NTB also held a strategic meeting with Randy Durband, CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), to explore collaboration on sustainability accreditation, destination memberships, capacity-building and joint research on sustainable tourism.
Additionally, NTB delegates engaged with global tourism experts, data scientists, AI professionals and sustainability leaders through a series of sideline meetings, recognizing the value of evidence-based approaches in repositioning Nepal as a destination that offers meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
