Nepal is observing Constitution Day and National Day 2082 today with a special program at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. The event, held under the chief guestship of President Ram Chandra Paudel, featured an address by Prime Minister Sushila Karki.

Unlike in previous years, cultural processions and public displays have been put on hold due to the current political climate.

The day marks the historic promulgation of Nepal’s Constitution on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS, a milestone achieved after years of struggle and sacrifice. The second Constituent Assembly endorsed the charter, which was announced by then-President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at the International Convention Centre, New Baneshwor.

On this occasion, national leaders including the President, Vice President, and heads of political parties extended best wishes, calling for unity and a renewed commitment to democracy.
