Nepal lost to Hong Kong by 7 wickets in a rain-shortened match of the ICC Women’s T20 Asia Qualifier held in Bangkok. Due to a wet outfield, the game was reduced to 5 overs per side.
Batting first, Nepal scored just 29 runs, losing 2 wickets. Samjhana Khadka scored 10 runs, Indu Barma made 9, and Rubina Chhetri remained unbeaten on 4. Hong Kong chased the target in 4.3 overs, despite losing 3 wickets. Shanzeen Shahzad scored 15 not out, while Yasmin Daswani stayed unbeaten on 3.
Nepal had earlier shared points with Hong Kong in a rained-out match and defeated Bahrain by 9 wickets. With this loss, Nepal’s chances of reaching the Super 3 stage have become slimmer. To qualify, Nepal must now beat Bahrain on Thursday and hope Bahrain defeats Hong Kong on Friday.
Group C includes Nepal, Hong Kong and Bahrain. The top teams from each group will advance to the Super 3 round, from which two teams will move on to the Global Qualifier.
