NC General Secretaries Thapa, Sharma to Sit Out HoR Election

Nepali Congress general secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma will not run in the upcoming House of Representatives election. Joint general secretary Badri Pandey has also opted out of the race.

While Sharma and Pandey have already made their decisions public, Thapa clarified his position during a recent Central Executive Committee meeting, saying he would not contest unless there is a change in the party leadership before the election. Party sources say no immediate leadership change is likely.

Sharma said he chose not to run to break old political practices, noting that he has already contested three consecutive elections and wants to give space to new candidates.
