Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel held a series of political meetings with top leaders of major parties on Friday to strengthen dialogue ahead of the House of Representatives election.
In the morning, Kharel met Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Maharajgunj. Later, he went to Bhaktapur and held talks with CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli at Oli’s residence in Gundu.
The government has increased discussions with senior political leaders to create a positive and supportive environment for the upcoming election. As a member of the high-level Political Dialogue Committee, Kharel has been meeting party leaders to build trust and agreement on the election process.
After the meeting in Maharajgunj, Deuba informed Kharel that the Nepali Congress has decided to participate in the elections and that holding the polls is the party’s main priority. Deuba also stressed the need for the government to ensure a free and fair election.
Kharel is also scheduled to meet Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at his residence in Khumaltar later on Friday as part of the ongoing consultations.
