The government has decided to partially close the Nagdhunga–Naubise–Malekhu section of the road for five hours each day to speed up ongoing construction work. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport recently met with stakeholders after contractors said that heavy and continuous traffic was slowing down the construction.

To address this issue, the District Administration Offices of Kathmandu and Dhading have issued a notice announcing the scheduled road closures. From December 10 to December 16, traffic will be stopped daily between 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM on the stretch from Nagdhunga to Piplamode, as well as in the Pokhrebhir area. Authorities have asked the public to use alternative routes and to plan their travel either before or after these closure hours.

The Tribhuvan Highway is being upgraded, and the Nagdhunga–Piplamode section is a priority because it is narrow and requires large machinery for blacktopping. The Galchhi–Gajuri stretch in Dhading is also narrow and risky, especially around Pokhrebhir, which needs widening.

During the closure hours, vehicles traveling from Kathmandu toward Naubise will be stopped at the Nagdhunga check post. The traffic police will ensure that emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, fire trucks, security vehicles, and hearses, can pass. Vehicles coming from Mugling to Kathmandu will have to wait at designated holding points, including Khanikhola (Naubise), Jungekhola (Thaakre), Galchhi, Baireni, and Mastaar along the Galchhi–Gajuri section. In urgent cases, small and medium vehicles may take alternative routes like Sitapaila–Bhimdhunga, Ramkot–Dharke, and Samakhusi–Tokha–Chhahare. All other vehicles will only be allowed to move after 3:30 PM.
