The installation of RCC beams on four bridges along the Muglin-Malekhu road section has been completed, bringing relief to travelers as nighttime road closures in that section are no longer needed.

However, people traveling along the Prithvi Highway should still expect some disruptions. The stretch from Naubise to Malekhu will remain closed tonight and tomorrow night for similar work on the Galaudi River bridge, which is still under construction. The road will be closed from 10:30 PM to 3:00 AM on both nights, according to the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project Office.

Kedar Prasad Nepal, the chief of the project’s western section, shared that RCC beams have already been installed on Barabang, Mowa, Khatauti, and Gomati Khola bridges. Now, the focus has shifted to completing slope construction on two of those bridges by the end of June.

A large crane imported from India was used to place the beams, which had caused nighttime traffic closures from June 13 to June 21.

So far, about 32 percent of the Muglin-Malekhu road project is finished. Blacktopping has been completed on eight kilometers of the road in places like Lewatar, Kurintar, Chumlingtar, and Fisling Bazaar in Chitwan. In Dhading district, four-lane blacktopping has been done in areas like Majhimtar, Charaudi, and Bishaltar, with two more kilometers expected soon if the weather allows.

Project engineer Bijay Darai said that foundation work is underway for two more bridges at Charaudi and Hugdi in Dhading. The project also plans to build a 2.2 km six-lane section in Malekhu, Benighat, and Muglin, and a 7.2 km four-lane stretch in areas like Ramal Danda, Kurintar, and Bishaltar. Additionally, a 2.3 km three-lane climbing lane will be constructed on steep sections of the highway to ease traffic flow.

Once complete, the remaining portions of the road will have two dedicated lanes for vehicles.
