Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Dhawal Shumsher Rana has said that the government should take full responsibility for the Tinkune clash that took place on Chaitra 15 (March 28).

Speaking at Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Rana claimed the incident did not happen because of them, but because of the state's actions. He defended medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, saying Prasai was working for the welfare of the common people and was not responsible for the unrest.

“The Tinkune incident wasn’t our fault, it happened because the state provoked the people,” said Rana. “Durga Prasai was trying to serve the underprivileged. He’s not to blame either.”

He also questioned why the government is hesitant to investigate the matter and called for the formation of an independent probe committee.
