Motorcyclist Killed in Chitwan Jeep Collision

A motorcyclist died after being hit by a Bolero jeep in Chitwan.

The accident happened around 12:30 am on the East-West Highway at Ratnanagar-3. The jeep (Province 2-02-001 Cha 0510) was carrying vegetables from Khairahani to Tandi. It hit a motorcycle (Ba Pra 06-001 Pa 3509) that was coming from the opposite direction.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Mukunda Kandel from Kalika Municipality-2.

According to Rabindra Khanal, spokesperson for the District Police Office in Chitwan, the jeep was trying to overtake a bus coming from Janakpur and going to Kathmandu when it hit the motorcycle.

Kandel was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Bharatpur Hospital. Doctors declared him dead at around 1:15 am.

Police have taken the jeep and arrested the driver for further investigation.
