Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that nothing in the Constitution stops her from getting involved in politics again.
At a special press meet on Friday in Babarmahal, she told reporters that the Constitution does not prevent former presidents like her from entering politics. She also shared that many people—from the media, party leaders, and ordinary citizens—have been curious about her political plans.
“I know the media has been talking a lot about me for the past year,” she said. “Since finishing my term as President, I’ve been spending time thinking deeply about our country’s social, economic, and political issues, as well as international matters.”
Bhandari said she will let everyone know in due time whether she will join a political party or not. Just this week, the CPN-UML party’s central committee decided not to accept her back and even suspended her membership. But Bhandari made it clear that no one can stop her if she chooses to return to active politics.
