According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley dropped today.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 15.5°C at 5:45 am on Monday. At the same time on Sunday, the temperature was 17.0°C. It remained the same during the next measurement taken at 8:45 am.
The official minimum temperature for today will also be recorded at 8:45 am. Meteorologists say the temperature may drop slightly or remain the same compared to the early morning reading.
Experts explain that cloudy nights usually make the morning temperature warmer, while clear skies at night cause the morning temperature to drop.
Maximum temperatures behave differently. If the weather stays cloudy during the day, afternoon temperatures usually decrease. But when the sky is clear, stronger sunshine causes temperatures to rise.
Meteorologists also say that even though temperatures may change slightly from day to day, overall temperatures are slowly increasing as winter ends.
The Weather Forecasting Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures in Kathmandu and across the country. The minimum temperature shows the weather from night to early morning, while the maximum temperature shows the daytime heat.
The minimum temperature is officially recorded at 8:45 am, and the maximum temperature is measured at 5:45 pm.
