Monsoon to Cover All of Nepal Within a Week, Says Meteorology Department

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that the monsoon is expected to become active across the entire country within a week. The monsoon has already arrived in eastern Nepal about 15 days earlier than usual and is now slowly spreading to other parts.

Senior meteorologist Shanti Kandel mentioned that rainfall has already started increasing from Thursday. She said there could be light to heavy rainfall in all provinces over the next few days as the monsoon moves westward.

Currently, the eastern region is seeing the most impact, but the monsoon system is likely to cover the whole country soon. Kandel also warned that this year’s rainfall might come along with hotter-than-normal temperatures, both during the day and at night.

She advised people to stay updated on weather forecasts to avoid dangers related to floods, landslides, and other weather-related risks.
