Moderate Flood Risk Alert Issued for Over 50 Districts Today

Over 50 districts across Nepal are under a moderate risk of floods today due to ongoing heavy rainfall, raising concerns over river overflow and sudden flash floods in vulnerable areas.

Today, many places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as some areas in Lumbini and Karnali provinces, are experiencing light to moderate rainfall.

 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rain is expected in one or two places in Koshi and Gandaki provinces, which increases the risk of sudden floods in rivers and streams.

 

Districts like Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Sindhuli, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, Lamjung, Gorkha, Salyan, Surkhet, Dailekh, and nearby areas are likely to see an increase in river flow. There is a medium risk of sudden flooding in these areas.

 

Similarly, districts such as Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, Bhojpur, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Makwanpur, Kavre, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Doti, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Jumla, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, and nearby areas may also experience increased flow in rivers and streams with a medium chance of flash floods.

 

Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this rainy period.
