The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have once again boycotted today’s House of Representatives meeting. Both parties have been obstructing parliamentary proceedings since Jestha 13 (May 27) demanding either a special parliamentary investigation or a high-level judicial probe into the recent visit visa controversy.
Although both parties allowed the budget session on Jestha 15 (May 29) to proceed without interruption, they have continued to boycott and protest every meeting since then. Despite their absence, Speaker Devraj Ghimire has continued running the parliamentary sessions as scheduled.
At the beginning of today’s meeting, lawmakers from RSP and RPP stood up in protest. Speaker Ghimire then gave RSP MP Dr. Toshima Karki the floor to speak. She said that since the government has not yet formed a committee to investigate the visit visa case as demanded, their protest will continue.
After her speech, RPP MP Deepak Bahadur Singh also addressed the house, stating that his party will continue its protest until a proper investigation committee is formed.
Following their statements, MPs from both parties walked out of the meeting. The House of Representatives meeting is still ongoing despite their boycott.
