In Gairigaun, Makwanpur, parts of a truck that had disappeared into a sinkhole have finally been found.

The incident happened on May 2 when a truck carrying fish (number Na 4 Cha 4833) suddenly sank into the road and vanished. The spot is in Hetauda sub-metropolitan city-16.

Later, on May 6 and May 16, a team from the Department of Mines and Geology came from Kathmandu to study the area. Led by Narayan Adhikari, the team looked into the ground structure, underground water and magnetic fields. They also collected soil samples to understand the reason behind the sinkhole.

On Tuesday, Ward Chairperson Ram Krishna Koirala began a search using a crane and an excavator to find the missing truck. He said that higher authorities did not show much interest, so he took the step himself after seeing the pain of the victims.

During the digging, some truck parts like tires and doors were found nearly 10 meters underground. This confirmed the truck’s location and brought some relief to the affected family.

Koirala said the discovery gave hope to the victims and helped bring attention back to the issue.
