Efforts to resume the meeting of the House of Representatives have failed after talks between the ruling Nepali Congress and opposition parties ended without agreement on Monday.

The meeting was held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor. Leaders from the Nepali Congress, the main opposition CPN (Maoist Centre), and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) took part in the discussion.

RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar said the opposition wanted a parliamentary committee to investigate problems with the misuse of visit visas. But the Nepali Congress did not agree, so the talks ended without any result.

This meeting was called after Sunday’s House session was obstructed by opposition parties, forcing it to be postponed until 2 pm Monday.

Now, with no agreement reached, it is unclear when parliamentary work will continue.
